Micro-Homesteading Education was founded by Katilyn Prickett and Christina Jewell, sisters with a combined 35 years of experience in horticulture, animal husbandry, and food preservation. Growing up on a farm, they learned the value of hard work and self-sufficiency at a young age and have always had a passion for growing and preserving their own food.

At Micro-Homesteading Education, we believe in starting small and doing what you can, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge and experience with others. We focus on sharing simple sustainability by teaching practical skills anyone can learn.

We aim to help families achieve food stability by alleviating the learning curve. We want to help our readers develop the skills they need to succeed on their micro-homesteading journey, including quickly learning gardening proficiency and the art of freeze drying. We want to share the comfort that can be gained from having a full pantry without the overwhelm that comes from full-scale homesteading.

They teach about creating a micro-homestead:

  • Growing nutritious food, including vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
  • Raising healthy animals, such as chickens, rabbits, and bees.
  • Preserving the harvest via freeze-drying, canning, culturing, and more.
  • Making healthy, mouth-watering meals from the storage pantry.

They encourage others to start small and do what they can. Micro-Homesteading Education’s mission is to create highly educational content that will support learning various homesteading skills. They are committed to alleviating the learning curve by teaching simple ways to gradually become capable of growing or raising food and then preserving it for use throughout the coming years.

We hope that our content will inspire and empower you to start your own micro-homesteading journey and experience the joy and peace that comes from growing and storing your own nutritious food.
